249). ICE recently though has been overwhelmed majorly and has been backlogged by millions, only 1.5% of the illegals are even being detained (Remarks, 2019, p. 1). As stated in the text, they “have begun to throw out tens of thousands of the two million backlogged cases in immigration court,” (Hoar, 2022, p. 2). If ICE were not defunded and attacked by the government they would do more, and right now they estimate at least a decade just to fix the backlog under new circumstances (Remarks, 2019, p. 1). Maybe ICE could be the best way to fix the issue unfolding on the border, but an alternative approach using ICE might work better. The enactment of another directive for ICE could result in many illegals being deported, helping clear immigration orders that are years overdue (Raffington, 2020, p. 250). 20). Illegal immigration is a major issue, however if the immigration were illegal the effects would be positive. Immigration into the United States is a very important form of economic improvement, and culturally. Immigrants bring long-term economic gains and can contribute up to $20,000 to taxes, boosting America further (Burns, 2019, p. 7). Illegal immigration effectively does the opposite by hurting the people with drug dealing, is a large social gamble, and has the risk of lowering wages (Burns, 2019, p. 17). Immigration must be fixed to a balance that should not cut out all possibility of immigration due to the many more things they contribute to. Immigrants in about 50% of cases are in billion dollar startups for many famously large companies, have founded 25% of large tech companies, and lastly have even founded 20% of Fortune 500 companies in the past (Burns, 2019, p. 16). Trump’s border policy attacked illegal immigration heavily, however, allowing for zero tolerance on illegals and most immigrants didn’t have any issues traveling through (Raffington, 2020, p.
