Temporary foreign workers in Canada are systematically shortchanged. Between 2000 and 2011 the number of migrant workers in Canada increased by over 330% (1). Many of these workers paid exuberant fees to recruiters in their home country to have the opportunity to be able to work in Canada even though Canadian law prohibits this kind of activity (2). As these workers are hired by contract binding them to a single employer, the employer tends to make considerable profit from the workers as their housing is provided by the employer who determines the price. Most alarming,
