In “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe he uses different craft moves to show how the eye made the boy kill the old man then made the boy go insane. In this story Poe uses motivation, descriptive language, and symbolism. Edgar Allan Poe demonstrates that if you do something bad the guilt will eventually start to drive you insane and get the better of you.

In the beginning the boy starts talking about the old man’s eye and this shows his motivation. “...a pale blue eye, with a film over it.” “...it fell upon me, my blood ran cold...” “...to take the life of the old man, thus rid myself of the eye for ever.” This shows that the boy is so freaked out by the eye that he is willing to kill the old man.
