Anyone who has ever been behind he scenes in a theatre or film production know that the real action is behind the scenes, where the characters get their make-up ready for set. Along side all the props, hair and costume. Currently the international strength of theatre, fashion, film, media and music in culture, has allowed the make-up industry to grown. The creative possibilities and job opportunities this programme would offer are both appealing and exciting to me. Its all about being aware of the colour and look you are going for and the overall impact it will have on the audience. Whether its an artistic make up or a natural look i am able to give someone confidence, both for everyday life or special occasions. For my sisters wedding i did all of the girls make-up, i do like the hands on approach to things, i love creating. I was brought up in Madeira, a little island in Portugal, and my mother used to create all the costumes for the local festivals and she would also help with the make-up, when i became older i helped her with that too. I used to love going in to her room and play around with her lipstick, i know its a bit of a cliché but my mum was a real inspiration for me. I learnt how to create costumes and the all together look along with hair and the make-up, with my mum and thats where my love for make-up and performance started. Seeing something and creating something new. When i moved to England i started sixth form and started getting involved with the theatre productions, staying after school to work on them, i created the costumes and make-up for all of the actors, this also helped me learn the value of working towards strict deadlines.
