The outsiders' perspective of 9/11 “I didn't know what happened until I got to Sonny food land in Sagola and all the employees were crying.” Thomas Johnson never knew the possibilities of 9/11 until this moment. People across the globe that weren't close to these tragic events watched them through horrific scenes, or photos. Thomas Johnson believes that not only did 9/11 affect him, but so many other people's lives that were not there physically. On September 9th, 2001 there was an attack on the twin towers by two hijacked airplanes with many passengers aboard, the first tower being the north one, leaving tons and tons of people trapped. He felt as if a lot of Americans and immigrants were worried about what the future was going to look like, after this frightening event. Even since the war that broke out in Afghanistan, the problem has been a lot bigger for everyone, and not just 9/11 survivors, for people in the military, and peoples families who suffered loss and their kids, or grandchildren in the war. Not that Thomas Johnson faced those impacts, he just feels like it was pushed to be such a big problem and fear was spanning out way farther than it needed to be, and deaths kept growing. Although this event didn't insanely affect Thomas Johnson, it affected people around him, and many other people around the world that were not affected by 9/11 and the attacks. The event created a huge feeling of vulnerability for people everywhere, and added a lot of terrorism and racism for immigrants, and non-U.S. citizens, because people felt like they couldn't trust people of different races because of the attacks and the form of religion people had. But on the brighter side, it led to improved security, with more surveillance cameras in bigger areas, and better airport security, by the weight a bag can be, bag checks, personnel checks, to make sure there aren't any illegal substances or items in a person's possession. As well, it did in some ways bring people together in communities. As well, not only did 9/11 change people's way of thinking about America, it made people think about how the world needs to come together and create more peace for many different reasons, there were also some bad impacts like war and racism to people that had no impact on the terrorists and made people lose trust in one another, but it did have good outcomes as well.
