The Tinker V. Des Moines district court case is about a group of students that plan to wear black armbands to school to protest about the United States involvement in the Vietnam war. The court decision was made in February 24, 1969. Despite the principal warning to the children, they wore the armbands to school and they were suspended. While the student was on suspension, the children parents sued the school for denying the students of their freedom of speech. The district court ruled in favor of the school starting that wearing armbands can disturb learning.
