Although Scout has evolved throughout the book, I believe Jem has changed a lot more because he destroyed ms. dubose garden and started to mature.For example, he shows his anger by destroying her garden, “He did not begin to calm down until he had cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs. Dubose owned, until the ground was littered with green buds and leaves”(137). Jem did this because she called Atticus a “nigger lover”.I can see why he got mad, but i think he took it too far. In conclusion, I can understand why he got upset, but he took it too far.He should work on getting used to racist people …show more content…
for example, jem was upset when tom lost the case ‘his hands were white from gripping the balcony rail’. jem showed how much he changed by him caring for another person and now he knows what racism. i understand why jem reacted like that i would’ve did the same racism is dumb.
