Welcome to your independent learning skills journey! The purpose of this journey is to equip you with the essential independent skills that you will need to help you to be a successful Key Stage 5 student. We recognise that becoming independent and building on any skills that you have currently can sometimes be challenging and because of this we aim to help you every step of the way.
Eight Critical Skills
On your journey, you will be required to develop sight critical skills which are outlined below:
* Confidence * Reflection * Setting Goals * Organisation * Taking Responsibility * Note Taking * Researching * Collaborative Learning * Consolidation * Articulated Reasoning
Structure of Your Journey
You will be required to complete a series of activities which have been designed to empower you to at least meet your minimum target grade. Before completing any tasks, please create a folder for your work in your home drive and then create ten subfolders – one for each of the skills areas.
When completing tasks, please follow the flow chart outlined below:
(1) Download and save materials into the correct subfolder
(2) Complete each activity in the spaces provided on the electronic documents
(3) Save your work as you progress through the tasks
(4) Save your work when you have completed all tasks
(5) Update the section entitled “Progress” on your Independent Learning Skills Tracker each time you complete a set of tasks to show your progress
