Turkeys used to be considered as the national symbol of america. Did you know that George Washington called the bald eagle a coward because he thought that the turkey was a better American symbol. Turkeys are amazing animals because wild turkeys can fly short distances at about 55 miles per hour. Also turkeys can hear very well even though they have no external ears. They can see in color which allows them to have a wide field of vision. Humans say that there age effects there taste. Older birds meat is tougher and younger birds meat is more stringy. Also old females birds have tougher meat. They grow to full maturity in about four to five weeks, And are only bred in the Western hemisphere. They are fed corn and soybean along with supplements
