Crime Systems What is Crime? Crime is something that happens every day maybe in front of your face. Crime is breaking laws made by the state, local, or federal government where there is no acceptable excuse. There are methods in place to help explore and review who commit crimes, who are targeted and affected by the crimes. Crime statistics if used correctly can be used to analyze criminal activity and to create social policy. There are three methods of crime statistics in today’s society. First there is the UCR program or the Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The UCR is a nationwide statistic enforced in more than 18,000 city, county and state law enforcement (FBI,2014 ). It is run by the FBI criminal justice information services division.
