UCHS uses a Common Core curriculum that meets Michigan Merit standards. Pupils must earn 25 credits in mandated coursework to graduate. A specific number of credits in English Language Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Mathematics, Visual/Performance/Applied Arts, World Languages, Health, and Physical Education. In addition to the standard classroom curriculum, pupils may also acquire credits through online courses. An option of earning a Certificate of Achievement instead of a traditional diploma is available.
