Role of Religion in Puritan Times.
In the Puritan day everyone was very religious, because barely anyone had their own say in their beliefs. If a person was to say that they were not a believer, they would be considered a witch and would be hanged . In the
Crucible,
people were hanged for having their own beliefs. In the
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, there were sermons that told people other beliefs against God is a sin, and they would be sent to hell.
Religion played a part in
The Crucible
, because many of peoples faith were questioned whether or not a person knew the bible. In the Salem witch trials if a person were to be caught doing something that is not of God they were considered a witch. For example, when Hale asked Elizabeth Proctor if she knew her Ten Commandments,

For example, when Judge Danforth tried to see if John Proctor was combined with the antichrist, John said, “ I say , I say, I say God is dead.” John is trying to say that all the goodness in the world is gone.
