Owen Benson 4/25/2024 Composition II Military Funding Funding for the military is crucial not only for the country, but for many individuals and families as well. Many people believe that the military is only used for war overseas, and to protect our country. While both of those are true, that is just scratching the surface of what the military does for the country and for the people. For one thing, the United States military provides millions of jobs to US citizens. These jobs include almost every job that the general public has to offer, but they can sometimes be easier to get into, and have much more benefits than a public job. The United States military is constantly buying and designing new technology that eventually ends up benefiting the public. If the military has the right budget and resources, they can make many advances in technology that could take the public another 20 years to make. Some of these technologies include new health practices and forms of transportation. Finally, the US military is crucial to the protection of our country and its allies. As the most powerful military in the world, it is the US’s job to not only protect themselves from other countries, which they can do because of funding, but also protect other countries in need. Using tax dollars to fund the military directly protects the country's people and its territory. Overall, the US government should not decrease military funding because the military not only creates careers for millions of people, but also helps advance modern technology and science, and protects its nation and people. When one thinks of military science, they probably think of fighter jets, bombs, warships, and more. While some of these things may not have been directly invented by the military, they are the ones that started using them the most and made the most breakthroughs with them.
