By doing this virtual dissection my understanding of where things are in the heart and their functions has shot up. For me when I get to research by myself and get hands I learn a lot more so this was great for just that. For me it would have been even better to have done it with my hands. But now I have a better idea of how the heart works. I found it good to be able to see the parts not on a diagram and seeing it without colour coding. But I believe that being able to cut open a heart and seeing and feeling it first hand would definitely be better.

5 In a living animal, what body movements force air from the lungs?
The diaphragm relaxes and the ribcage moves down and in so that it increases the air pressure and gets rid of the air to equalize.

6 Write a reflection of the dissection of the lung, including pictures, and your reactions in your journal.

The lung dissection was very interesting as you could see a real lung in front of you and you could touch it, inflate it, etc. Seeing it from this perspective broadened my knowledge of the lungs,

When I first saw the lung, that was deflated, it was smaller than I expected but lambs are small so that probably had a part to play. The trachea felt really weird when I felt it because of the cartilage.

When I inflated the lung it was harder, because the lungs had been punctured and some of the air was leaking making it more difficult. From this I learned that a living creatures lung could be punctured and depending on the size of the puncture this can reduce lung capacity to fatal
