In the novel walk two moons by Sharon C. Salamanca tree hiddle one of the main characters experiences external forces the help shape her personality and overall help her grow as a person. one of the first things she goes through is her mom leaving, the next force is when she moves to ohio and the last force is Ben kissing her and overall there relationship all together. These events led her to grow in many ways and also helped develop the story line.
The first force Salamanca experiences is her mom abandoning her when she lived in Kentucky. Her mom leaving caused external conflict between the family. The evidence for this on page 3 it says “one night when we got the news she was not returning …show more content…
its an external force because on page 1 it says “ just over a year ago my father plucked me up like weed and took me and all of my belongings”. that quote shows she doesn't have any consent whether or not she wants to move which cause her to have an attitude toward her dad. it says on page “no trees i said this is where we're going to live?”. This quote proves she's mad at her dad she's usually never this disrespectful to her dad but since she's mad she doesn't control herself and is mean.
The last external force she goes through is developing a crush on Ben and eventually kissing him. Because on page 261 it says “ if i were Ben i would miss Salamanca tree hiddle”. that shows that it was obvious they liked each other it also says on page 187 “kissing is thumpingly complicated”. that quote was right before they almost kissed which shows she's thinking about it. it also says on page 225 “ did it taste a little like blackberries to you?”. This quote shows it was right after a kiss so that even more so shows they're in love.
In conclusion sal has gone through lots of external forces like movin her mom leaving and having her first kiss that shape her as a person and helps her develop a better personality. So in the end she went through a lot but it was for the
