When life gets hard and goes wrong people come together. When you are alone and “when you’re afraid, really afraid, you see things you never saw before, you pay attention to the world. You make close friends. You become part of a tribe and you share the same blood- you give it together” (The Things They Carried, 183). When people are forced together in a terrible situation they can make a differences because they create relationships that help each other survive. During war when people are sad and feeling lonely it creates a better feeling to be united so they unite. In the war “the Allies stood and fought against tyranny in a giant undertaking unparalleled in human history” (Ronald Reagan). Not only do people unite, but countries unite in war. In the Normandy Invasion, the U.S. Allies came to help out the U.S. because they knew it needed to be done and that the U.S. could not do it on their own. The soldiers when fighting in a war “together…understood what terror was” (The Things They Carried, 211).
