Describe the major successes and failures of Reconstruction.
The Reconstruction era was during 1865 through 1877, when the Republicans ended their efforts. To this day there is still controversy as to its successes and failures. One major success was, African Americans were free. Black people could now legally sign a contract, get married, vote, go to school, become property owners, and even be a politician. Another very positive is the restoration of the United States, and the development of the South’s economy. The failures include the beginning of the terror group Ku Klux Klan, who used violence to restrain the acceleration of African Americans. Racial segregation was also another huge failure of the Reconstruction.
Summarize the characteristics which many Native American tribes on the Great Plains shared. Describe how they defended their homelands against white expansion. Explain how and why the federal government attempted to destroy their tribal cultures.
The book explains that the tribes on the Great Plains were innovative in using limited sources. Cottonwood bark was used as food for horses during the cold weather, and the buffalo provided, not just meat to eat, but also the cartilage was used for tolls, fat for make-up, tendons …show more content…
Most likely this was do to many factors. To begin with, transportation had become much cheaper and less strenuous, making it more plausible for indigent Europeans to immigrate to the United States. The reasons for their departure from Europe was poverty, over population, lack of employment and food. Religious persecution was another factor in their decision to immigrate to the United States. Most of the Americans resented these immigrant, most especially the Jewish, and Asians, and therefore treated them like second class citizens. They were not accepted by the American people, this eventually prompted the U.S. Immigration
