Most of the time welding will be a skilled and precision job. Most of the welders and senior welders have to have complete accuracy when welding two pieces of metal together. Because of this a welder needs to be on his toes when welding. One wrong move can be a disaster and the piece of metal can be ruined. The welder needs to able to work with co-workers and get along with the senior welders at a job site. If you would like to get a little head start into your new career you can take some classes while your in high school. Some different classes a welder might be interested in would include mechanical drafting. Mechanical drafting is based on technical drafting and different computer based programs. Another recommended class would be either technical drafting, or intro to architecture and construction. These classes specialize in many different science and art programs. You really don't have to go to college it be a welder but there is some recommendations if you do go. Some different recommendations would include a high school diploma which is recommended, and may be required.
