In the students opinion, re read enough as it is. We do not want anything extra! Reporters, editors, administrators, whoever, they can’t make us read at home. If I want to read at home I will. When an adult tells a teenager to read, it makes that teenager not want to. Being a teen is all about rebellion and adolescence, tell us to do something and we will undermine and ignore you. It is not a writers job to dictate what 8th graders do at home, it’s our choice. Though every person is entitled to their opinion, that doesn’t mean some editor can make our decisions. Home is our time, nobody dictates what goes on there except for students and their parents. Kids, we have the right to do what we want out of school, and no editor or writer can take that away from them.
When adults give teens extra things to add on to their never-ending to-do list, they end up losing even more of their precious precious time. Adults would not believe the amount of homework students have to do! Keeping up with schoolwork and extracurricular activities like music and sports, is extremely hard and causes much stress. Plus thats only the tip of the iceberg! It is a proven fact that 86% of all teenagers suffer from stress due to time managing and schoolwork. So even when a teen actually wants to read, he or she almost never has time for it. Contrary to teachers belief, students do have social lives. Life is not about homework, we have friends and responsibilities too. In fact, the majority of the student population has other things to do when they get home, like babysitting and chores. That gives them even less time to do what they need to. There
