About 40 percent of workers are said to be employed in the construction sector, which is highly unregulated (Narizhnaya). According to a study from the Human Rights Watch, a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization, 146 migrant workers were interviewed who were working or had worked in the construction. It was found that in contrast to earlier waves of migrant workers coming to Russia, today’s workers are less killed, not able to speak as well in Russian and have little to no education.
