The Electoral College is a process that counts the votes not by the personal vote but by the electoral votes. Two hundred and seventy electoral votes are required to elect a President. The Electoral College determines the Presidents and Vice President of the United States. The highest vote-getter is the automatic winner. The electoral vote is a process that needs to be ended so that the people of the United States have a stronger position in the election of a President of their choice. The Electoral College consists of the selection of the electors, in a meeting where they vote for the President and Vice President by the counting of the electoral votes by congress. Each state gets a certain amount of electoral votes by the amount of population in that state. The candidate who receives an absolute majority of electoral votes for the office of President is elected to that office. There has been times in the past when President candidates lost the popular vote but won the electoral vote. For example, this happened to George W. Bush in in 2000 when he lost to Gore in the popular vote but won the electoral vote. The numbers of the popular votes are not proportional to the electoral votes. …show more content…
Some people see the Electoral College as a good process because it is more organized for the campaigns. In a presidential race the candidates must have to try to persuade the fifty states of our country to vote for them. People think that the race is more organized because the candidates will go to each state and convince the people to vote for them and that the people will see how much they care for the individual states. In the Electoral College not every state has to be won. This is why the candidates take there time to try hard for certain states that they need in order to win. I disagree with these people and think that we should abolish the Electoral
