In Elie Wiesel’s acceptance speech for the Noble Peace Prize, he had stated “Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented”. I agree, Elie's statement means that those who never spoke against it shall see the consequences that others face due to the silenced folks. Elie had portrayed that when a few folks who stayed quiet helped the contribution towards the evil acts in which the victims faced, and if the victim rebelled, the more injuries they could get.

The way Elie’s statement proves that the silence provokes evil correct is the way he portrayed certain events in his book “Night”. When everyone ignored Moishe’s warnings, nobody spoke out and said that he was correct. The consequences caught up, and most of the Jews of Sighet were captured and brought to a concentration camp. Before that occurred, as the foreigners were expelled from Sighet, someone said “What do you expect? That’s war. . .” soon followed by “The deportees were quickly forgotten”.Nobody cared to speak out against the …show more content…
In “Life Is Beautiful” it shows how nobody spoke against the killing of the Jews. It is obvious that the group was one we saw earlier, due to the little girl’s cat walking across the pile of clothing from the deceased people. The group was killed, and the mother seemed to want to speak up against the guard who was “nice” at the beginning, but now rude and bitter. Nobody was safe from the evil at Auschwitz. They killed the children and older people, and made the women clean up the huge pile. The silent had stayed silent while the tormented were still tormented.
