How would you feel if after you died people only remembered the bad things about your life? Many people have heard about the Holocaust, but have not taken the time to learn about any of the victims. Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel informs us about his thoughts on this subject in his Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech. In Wiesel’s eyes, it is a problem that they are only remembered as victims. “How could the world remain silent?”(Wiesel). That shows that Elie wants people to be remembered for other great things they did in their lives. He feels like we can not stay silent, and that it is his job to tell the stories of the other people. Many other survivors share these feelings with Elie, which we can see through how they have told their stories. …show more content…
We should learn about individual people, rather than about the group as a whole, to honor those who died and learn not to treat people this way.

In the memoir Night, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel tells us about how he and many other people were mistreated during the Holocaust. In this book, he describes specific survivors and what they should be remembered for. Someone Elie thought should be remembered is Juliek, a talented musician. “He was playing a fragment of a Beethoven concerto. Never before had I heard such a beautiful sound. In such silence”(Wiesel 94). When Elie talks about Juliek, he describes his music and how well she could play the violin. Elie thinks Juliek deserves to be remembered as more than just someone who died in the Holocaust. This is just one of many examples of victims being described by Elie. Now that we have seen an example of Elie’s feelings, we can compare it to another Holocaust survivor.
