Stapylococcus are pathogen of man and other animals usually human respiratory tract and on the skin it is positive for catalase and nitrate reduction. The coagulase negative of staphylococcus (cns) are now to comprise over 30 other species. Most of the cns are commensals of skin, although some species cause infections. Therefore, it is clear …show more content…
It is identified as staphylococcus aureus by Rosenbach. The name was given by the official system of nomenclature at that time. It is estimated that 20% of the human population are long-term carriers of staphylococcus. It can be found at anterior nares of the nasal passages. Staphylococcus aureus is the most common species of staphylococcus to cause staphylococcus infections. It is progressive pathogen due to a combination of nasal carriage and bacterial immunoinvasive …show more content…
Staphylococcus aureus is a positive bacteria. Most strains of staphylococcus aureus is a large smooth and slightly raised colony that produce betahemolysis. To differentiate s.aureus from other species is the coagulase test which can clot plama into gel or agglutinate cocci in slide. Then catalase test is the enzyme that breaks hydrogen peroxide in water and oxygen. Catalase test is a good test for distinguishing between positive cocci in chains (catalase negative) versus gram positive cocci inclusters (catalase positive).S.aureus is important cause of pneumonia and food poisoning. Because many s.aureus isolate beta lactamase and are resistance to penicillin and other drugs choice of s.infections are oxacillin cloxacillin and methicillin. But patient with hypersensitive to penicillin may be treated with
