Usually, when people see inkblots on a piece of paper, they see all sorts of things. Using inkblots on a piece of paper to test some in called Rorschach Testing. The first time 37 year old Charlie Gordon took the Rorschach test, he didn’t see anything but inkblots. He agreed to undergo an operation that would “triple hi IQ.” In Daniel Keyes’ long-short story, Charlie’s IQ starts to grow, but then starts to diminish. He is asked to take a Rorschach test again once his IQ starts to rise and he starts to understand what they are asking him to do. He still didn’t fully agree with the test. If someone was scared or worried that they would give the “wrong answer,” they could easily say they see things they don’t really see.
