This work of art is presented as the center piece around which the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art is organized. It comprises a massive ceremonial banquet, arranged on a triangular table with a total of thirty-nine place settings, each representing an important woman from history. Every setting features a placemat, on which is embroidered the name of a famous historical or mythical woman, and an elaborate plate designed intentionally to resemble the shape of a butterfly or a vagina. The appearance of all the elements on each setting was inspired by the woman who holds the spot. The names of another 999 women are inscribed in gold on the white tile floor below the triangular table. This permanent installation is enhanced by rotating Herstory Gallery exhibitions relating to the 1,038 women honored at the table. The Dinner Party also consist of ceramic, porcelain, and textile pieces. The structure is one of the many aspects that make this piece of art so amazing, especially since it represents each woman
