Sojourner Truth was born in 1797 in New York with the nickname Isabella. She was sold to John Neely in 1806 when she was nine years old. Then she was sold from John Neely to Matinus Schryver. Isabella's family was split so Isabella had to go back and forth between her moms and her dads. Isabella was tortured by John Neely, so that's why she was sold to Matinus Schryver. Isabella stayed with Matinus because she was really nice to Isabella. John Neely did not have a job, so he just stayed at his house and kept being mean to Isabella. Matinus Schryver was a nurse for the slaves if they got hurt in the war and even if they were not in the war. Sojourner Truth was a slave her whole life until she got free in 1827 and she was so happy because before she had to give her son away while she was a slave because she gave birth to him while she was a slave that's why she was so happy because she could finally get her son back.In conclusion that is what her young life was like. …show more content…
