On November 22, 1963, America’s president, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated. We often talk about how Americans were affected by this ordeal but we ignore that others were affected too. When JFK was assassinated, my grandparents lived in France.
At the time of the assassination, France had just finished the Algerian war. In this war there were a lot of murders, secret operations, and spies/secret service were very active. So, a handful people were skeptical of this complicated mystery. Generally, however, people were just stunned and melancholic.
When he was twenty, my grandfather was in a school to help him prepare for a contest to get into a military academy. One day, my grandfather was listening to the radio at home after school and he heard that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated.

Both of my grandparents did not get to see Oswald die. They believe that this it is a pity he died because Oswald did not have the chance provide any useful information relating to JFK’s murder. After Oswald died, French people started believing that someone else was behind the murder. Some thought that it could have been the Soviets or the Cubans, especially since this was in the middle of the Cold War. Others thought that it could have been the KKK or the mafia.
