Who’s to blame of the tragedy of Romeo's and Juliet's death? In the story, “Romeo and Juliet”, there were many things that caused Romeo and Juliet to death. Juliet’s parents are one to blame, but there were a few other things that played a part in their deaths, such as fate and Friar Lawrence, and finally themselves.
Throughout the story Juliet's parents kept pressuring her to marry Paris. In the story it says, “Well, think of marriage now… Speak briefly, can you like of Paris’ love?” This is just a few of the many lines that show how much her parents are pressuring her to marry Paris. Her parents keep telling her that she needs to get married, but Juliet wanted to marry someone she really loves. They feel that Juliet and Paris are a good match for each other, but they aren't listening to how she feels about the situation. …show more content…
At the beginning of the story, the prologue foreshadows their deaths. For example, the prologue says, “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life…” This shows that fate is partially to blame because the reader knew they were supposed to die from the beginning. There are also many other lines to prove this statement, but the one in the prologue is the most obvious one. Fate is the cause of Romeo and Juliet's death. No one is to blame because everything happens for a reason. It was fate that they fell in love and happened to be on rival sides of the family. It was fate that the plague spread when the messenger was trying to deliver the letter to Romeo. It was also fate that they fell in love at first sight. They didn't let the opinions of their family members affect them and they went with how they felt. It was destiny for them to be together even if it meant dying along each other's
