The main reasons why pandas are close to extinction is because of poaching, habitat destruction and bamboo flowering. The destruction of the panda's natural habitat is now a major threat to the survival of the species. Their habitats are being destroyed for housing, roads, pipelines, industrials reason and mainly for the expansion of agricultural land. The forest that pandas live in are being destroyed for the wood, timber and other forest products it produces. Poaching is the second main reason why giant pandas are nearing extinction. Poachers are hunting down pandas for their black and white fur.
