Animal captivity has started getting popular since 1950. They started to make the public pay for the animals parading on the streets. They had around 200 animals with them. They were also on TV shows which helped gain popularity in the entertainment section. (“Our History, CAPS” No date p7) Many countries in the world have zoos, it is known as for our development in education and entertainment. As many people will not get affected by this, the zoos will keep on going with their business, till then zoos will continue to breed more and more animals. Because most of the environments in zoo, this makes the animal live with difficulty so raising awareness is inspiring and should be able to reach to some people with this idea. Also to help spread awareness, people can start a petition to stop animal captivity and start letting animals free in the wild. I think this is somewhat effective, if you educate people more about each of the disadvantages of the zoo, people may probably not go. Animals that are bred in the zoo might not even experience the wildlife, like they’re suppose to and were meant to be in the wild for a reason, to gain independency and learn to hunt food by themselves, a natural way to meet other animals and care for their young, the side effects of keeping animals in cages absolutely shocked me, but when I looked into it more and became more aware, after researching, i found out by letting animals out in the wild can risk an extinction. I didn’t know that zoos could be that effective in keeping one’s life healthy, I feel like I understand more about why you cannot judge something without researching about something. Although there are many things that needs to be changed before we let the animals out in the wild like they are, mostly because of us. We caused global warming to happen and drove a few species to extinction. The guilt in me because of this made motivates me to the point where I actually want animals to live a happy life without worries and stress. Although some animals kept in zoos lack space, I feel very sorry for them and I wish I could help them.
