In 1776 he forced the british out of Boston and almost lost and was nearly taken for a prisoner when he lost New York. After crossing the Delaware River in the middle of winter. He won the British in two battles, Trenton and Princeton. He got back New Jersey and restored the momentum to the patriot cause his plan helped the continental forces capture British armies in Saratoga and Yorktown .
