December 24, 1865 a hatred group was formed called the Ku Klux Klan to torture freed African Americans. The Ku Klux Klan was created in the south and called themselves “The Loyal White Knights”. The Ku Klux Klan killed approximately 3,446 blacks in 86 years. When the Ku Klux Klan formed it was specifically to frighten African Americans. The South created Black codes so that they could restrict African Americans freedom. When sharecropping came about it was to specifically make African Americans go into poverty. All the South needed to do is end all conflicts that were going on so that reconstruction could be successful and not a big failure like it
