Critics argue that requiring companies to label genetically modified foods is ineffective, as it will make food more expensive, but provide no useful information to consumers. However, genetic engineering is not safer, more efficient, nor more predictable than naturally grown foods that have been grown in previous years. There are many differences and risks associated with genetically modified foods compared to natural foods. Therefore, leaving the consumer vulnerable and unaware of the risks because of food companies refusing to label their GMO products.
There are many known and unknown risks of consuming genetic engineered foods. It sounds horrible to know that food companies are allowing families, children, and our elderly citizens to consume these products knowing there are potential hazards associated with them, and still refusing to label
