I was raised in a single parent household, my mother was the sole bread winner, although she worked hard, we remained a low-income family. The financial struggle made the idea of sending me to college out of reach, therefore my mother was unable to encourage a college education. Upon graduating high school, I began working a full-time factory position, alongside my mother, it was what she knew, and it seemed safe choice. I began waiting tables at a popular pub to earn more money, it was there that I met a wonderful friend, and would be a muse, Joanie encouraged me to begin college, fostering a belief in me that I had yet to find. I already had adult responsibilities, with rent and bills, however, she remained my diligent cheerleader and source of knowledge and resources. She guided me through various grants, to jump start my community college career. We are a middle-income family, that have taken out parent loans for both my children, have co-signed their student loans and pay their interest payments while they achieve their dreams. They are most grateful to us and for our assistance. Both, work very hard to pay for their own living expenses while living on Campus. It is now my time to finally achieve my own dreams. I currently maintain a 4.0 GPA. I am proud to work for our hospital. With the student loan burden, we have as a family, I would greatly appreciate a hard earned scholarship.
