At this point I had established myself in the area as one of the best players, then another obstacle came my way. In the sixth grade my family moved to North Carolina. All the hard work I had put in to be great was lost and I would have to start over. Where we moved, if you wanted to play for the high school team you needed to be known by the high school coached by the fifth grade. I was already in the sixth. I did find my way into their practices but was told I would not make the team because the other outfielders I was playing against were already established and that there would be no need for me on the high school team. I had to put in double the work to be successful here. During my freshman year, I attended tryouts and made the JV team. I started every game all year, but was still told I would never make the varsity team. As a sophomore, I again was put on the JV roster while most the players in my grade moved up to varsity. I played well all year but at the end of the season I was not selected to move up to varsity for the playoffs. This motivated me to work harder than ever to become the best player on the team.
