For as long as mankind has been around, eating has always been one of the top priorities. There were several means to get food. One could gather fruits and berries, fish, or hunt for meat. Hunting was usually the most rewarding out of the three, and offered an abundance of meals. In fact, hunting is one of the main reasons why people are here today. Centuries ago, people would hunt not just for meat, but for literally every other part of the animal. They would make tools, weapons, clothes, and shelter. It is very hard to find a hobby where one does not have any status over another. Hunting is not discriminatory, it does not have any boundaries. The hobby is supported by many, regardless of age, sex, religion, ethnicity, and cultural differences. People of any type can participate and have just as much of a chance as the next guy. Hunting reaches all four corners of America and unites people in ways that other hobbies do not. Wild hogs were first brought as a food source, and centuries later were brought for sporting purposes. The colonists who first brought the hogs over had no clue how much the population would explode and how much damage they would cause. “Feral swine cause major damage to property, agriculture (crops and livestock), native species and ecosystems, and cultural and historic resources. In fact, this invasive species costs the United States an estimated $1.5 billion each year in damages and control costs” (USDA). Hogs cause a ridiculous amount of damage each year. Hunters love to participate in hog hunting, even though it is often disease ridden and not the best quality meat. Wild hog hunting helps farmers and land owners retain their crops and good pastures. It offers a source of community service for hunters and is quite enjoyable at the same time since there is no limit on how many one can
