Schools are considering making all students complete 100 hours of community service in order to graduate, and it's not a good idea. Schools shouldn't make us do community service, because we go to school to learn, and community service is a good thing, but it doesn't help us learn at all. As you can probably guess, most students won't agree with this new policy, so they most likely won't perform the required hours. Also, high school seniors are busy and most will have more important things to do rather than 100 hours or community service.

The only reason we come to high school is to learn. Community service doesn't teach us anything, a lot of us already know how to work, because we have jobs, so why should we have to do community service? In my middle school leadership class we were required to do community service, and I don't think I ever completed the full amount of hours. I wasn't the only one, the majority of my classmates didn't do it either. Also, it's way too easy just to lie about it, so if middle school students got around it that easily, it would be a piece of cake for high school seniors. It has nothing to do with learning, and it's way too easy to lie about. …show more content…
It will be very difficult to punish those students who don't do it, because the administrators can't check everyone's hours to make sure they aren't lying. Even if a student doesn't complete the community service, what would their punishment be? They shouldn't be punished for something that has nothing to do with their
