Between the ages of two and five, a child is at the peak of their learning abilities, it is important to begin to teach a child the fundamentals he or she needs to begin school. The importance of reading to children has a great effect on their vocabulary skills, although there has been speculation on whether or not a child needs to be read to at a young age the advantage of spending time with children and reading to them is beneficial. “Even in the first few months of life, children begin to experiment with language. Young babies make sounds that imitate the tones and rhythms of adult talk; they "read" gestures and facial expressions, and they begin to associate sound sequences frequently heard – words – with their referents” (NAEYC). The importance of having even just a little time to read to your child to ensure that they have what is needed to be able to communicate is
