The economic situation in the United States took a great downfall in the 1930s. The Great Depression contributed greatly to the American Dust Bowl. The American Dust Bowl was essentially a series of dust storms in the Southwestern United States,also know as The Great Plains. The Dust Bowl was created due to drought, a lack in dry farming techniques, and overgrazing cattle and sheep.
Although 19 states were affected agriculturally as well as economically, the area hit the hardest by the Dust Bowl was the panhandle area of Oklahoma.
