Refutation is the action of proving a theory or understatement wrong or untrue (Dictionary). Many people need to refute other arguments and make case for why you believe they are wrong. As a writer I think it is to anticipate and answer the objections those you disagree with you are likely to raise because that will answer any questions they may have. If you are trying to change someone's view point you want to make sure all their questions are answered. Someone will most likely not change their viewpoint if they have questions to ask, so if you answer all the questions that are likely to come up you are more likely to “win” them over.
