Assault weapons are dangerous to every United States citizen if the wrong people have ownership of them. This is why banning the production, sale, and possession of assault weapons should take place within the US. If someone in the US, that means to harm other people, can buy and own assault weapons that puts everyone within the US in danger. Someone able to gain possession of an assault weapon could injure or kill anyone in the US. In the past years, there has been many accounts of deaths by a firearm within the US. By banning the sale, production, and possession of assault weapons in the US. we can avoid many deaths that might happen because of somebody that has an assault weapon. In 2017 alone there were 15,587 gun related deaths and 31,178 injuries caused by guns. 346 mass shootings also took place during 2017. The amount of deaths caused by guns has gone up by about 1000 each year since 2014 were only 12,558 deaths related to guns. The total firearm death rate in the US is 10.2 which is almost 3 times as many deaths from guns than there is in Finland which has the second highest firearm death rate compared to other countries. This means that the US has a very large amount of gun-related deaths compared to other countries which gives even more reason to place stricter gun
