Political leaders appear to be content with the issue thus ignoring it. It is easy for them to blame the colleges for the increased price while the problem is their economic policies that only cater to the wealthy and leave the poor suffering. For those who cannot afford a full course choose to take fewer course loads leading to slow graduation. If a student does not take the required course load they are forced to spend more time in college thus adding to the expense. The question is what has caused all this. When we look at the pay that the lecturers used to get some years back, there’s a very big difference. Another reason is the constant expansion of University administration. Another reason is because the government cut public funding for higher education.
The government should find ways to curb the increase of college costs. They could start with having a limit for student loan borrowing. They should also improve federal financial aid programs. In order to have good education sacrifices and commitments are crucial but with the rise in the cost of higher education, it makes it hard for students.
