Why The Minimum Wage Should Be Raised

When someone wants something, you should stop and think what could happen and make sure that you make the right decision. Many people want the minimum wage to be raised, but there’s actually a lot more ways for harm than help in this situation. The economy could collapse, causing inflation, and the great U.S. reputation would just shoots right out the window. As of right now, the U.S. is around 20 trillion dollars in debt, and the minimum wage being raised, it wouldn't help this at all. Instead of raising minimum wage, why don’t we just leave the minimum wage alone. Minimum wage shouldn’t be increased because inflation, people would take the increase for granted, and It would only make poverty worse, not better.

Workers tend to slack more because of minimum wage increasing, and think that they could work less but still make more money. This isn’t true. “When minimum wage increases the average number of people that work less hours with minimum wage increases by 2.37%, and it always rises due to the increase of minimum wage” (Gitis Ben). There’s also more complaints about increasing minimum wage when it is actually done. “ ‘For some reason, there's always more complaints about the increase for minimum wage after it has occurred’ says the president” (Gitis Ben). Also, more people are reporting that they are living in poverty after increasing the minimum wage. Ben Gitis says, “ Many calls came to the government about how the minimum wage needs to be increased again because they are still living in poverty, but they do admit that they stop working more”. So, not only does inflation occur which set some people in poverty already, these people that take advantage of the increase in minimum wage also live in poverty themselves because of the decisions they
