All individuals must work towards achieving a common goal. Effective communication builds and maintains relationships among team members. Everyone involved must also contribute his ideas and value others’ ideas. Respect, trust and transparency are essential as well. Ways of working can also be improved by attending multi-agency team meetings and conferences and implementing policies such as ‘No Secrets’ national framework and codes of practice for health and social care (2000) to protect vulnerable adults.
