Due to the enjoyment and fulfilment I experienced during my placement at Penllwyn School, I soon began to offer my services as a babysitter; offering daytime and overnight care to families in my area. My experience as a babysitter involved; responsibility, organisation, time management, and the opportunity to develop my interpersonal skills.

During my employment with Mencap I have developed immensely as a person, gaining in confidence and self-esteem. In 2013 I was nominated by my colleagues for a Mencap Values award; the nomination was successful and I was very proud to receive an award. My recent annual appraisal was also extremely successful, meeting all the required standards for my role and gaining ‘Top Talented’ for my work. I am very proud of what I’ve achieved during my first year as a Support Worker.
