91.9 Million American travel each year on leisure trips. Of that 92 million, a whopping 52% chose to visit the city of Manhattan, also known as New York City. However, most of the domestic visitors don’t make it an eye opening, meaningful trip. They go see places such as Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza and other typical “tourist” attractions. In order to have a more meaningful trip, the visitor should visit the World Trade Center memorial and museum and Carnegie Hall. When visitors arrive in New York City, they should first go to the World Trade Center memorial and museum. This is a very sobering experience, knowing that 3,000 people died in those towers thirteen years ago on Sept 11, 2001. The memorial has engraved metal plates with the names of all of the victims of the attacks. The plates surround the footprints of where the original Trade Towers stood. At the site, there is also a tree that survived not only the attacks on 9/11, but also Hurricane Irene in 2011. The tree is located near the south footprint, and serves as a reminder of live continuing after devastation. Behind the memorial, rebuilding is continuing. It is a monument to the history of music and art in New York City. Carnegie Hall was built in 1891 and was built by Andrew Carnegie. The hall shows the interesting architecture that the 19th century had in New York City. It has awe-inspiring Italian Renaissance architecture. It has three main halls, the Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall, and the Main Hall. The Weill Recital Hall holds 268 people, the Zankel Hall holds 599 and the Main Hall holds 2,804. The main hall is 5 tariffs tall, a modern elevator was installed in the 1980’s. Though visitors have to walk from the fourth tariff to the fifth by stairs.
