Organization background
The non-profit organization known as the Wounded Warrior Project started back in 2003 with the intention of providing services to veterans that have served in the military and ended up disabled (WWP FAQs, 2018). More importantly, the WWP mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound, co-incident to your military service on or after September 11, 2001 (WWP FAQ’s, 2018). The structure is very simple yet effective. It is composed of board of directors as well as leaders for the Non-profit.
Reason for selection
I picked this non-profit because I am a disabled veteran as well as my husband, father, uncle and father-in-law. I have experienced the effects of war and have witnessed the effects of life after the war

Like most of the counterparts with whom we served, our services to our beloved Nation were based on sacrifice despite the pains involved and even the possibility of losing our lives. Having observed the experiences of my close family members after war, I was scared but I still offered to serve my country and fight for America. However, I was devastated after I found myself in the same position as my father, uncle and father-in-law. It was a devastating and disheartening experience until I found the Wounded Warrior Project. I chose the organization because having observed the painful lives and void of societal support that my predecessors lived there was finally a glimpse of hope. More importantly, my husband and I needed to talk to people that had similar experiences. The Wounded Warrior PRoject provided exactly that and it was the best decision that I could have made.
