Specifically, World War 1 or, and as it was also famously called the Great War, was a world war that was fought from 1914 to 1918. It started with the shooting of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and the complex series of events that developed to expand the conflict to almost all the leading world powers. Ultimately, although the flame of the industrial revolution noticeable coloured the war significantly, the technological advancement was instrumental in determining the course of the war.
