First of all, Peter wants to marry Stephen’s sister Naomi and on page 15 Stephen says, “But forcing Naomi to marry old Peter was unthinkable.” This shows Stephen is protective and caring toward Naomi, his sister. Next on pg 9 Peter said “Maybe the person who did this to me is the person who wants to offer a bride price for Naomi himself!” This shows, Peter is jealous and manipulating. Last Peter thought the boys let his cows go so he wouldn't have the cows to offer for Naomi. “Stephen knew this wasn’t true because Stephen did not let the cows out” This shows, Peter got angry about his cows getting out and blamed the boys even though they were innocent. How small these conflicting points of view are in the beginning of the book, as compared to last part of the book when the boys are displaced from their homes.
